We are planning a family get together in July so we went to the accommodation in the Blue Mountains in late March to check out that it was OK for our needs and decided to do a bushwalk at the same time. After checking out the accommodation and having morning tea in a café we headed off to Glenbrook to do the Glenbrook Gorge and Jellybean Pool walks.
The first part of the walk was quite easy going heading down towards the river and gorge. Near the gorge the track is a bit harder to follow and there was some rock hopping over the flat rock shelves but it was worth it.
Whilst having a bit of a rest something dropped on Les’ neck and when he swiped it away it stung his finger so he had a sore finger for a while. Still do not know what it was. We decided to follow the river to Jellybean Pool which is a 10 min 600 metre track. Well after 40 minutes of mostly bush bashing we finally arrived to Jellybean Pool. From here it was a 20 minute slog up hill all the way and Les was feeling the strain but we made it and settled down for a rest before heading back to Glenbrook for lunch.
We continue with Meals on Wheels and working to get the house in better shape so we can sell it towards the end of the year for our “treechange”. We have been checking out the sales in the local area and have real estate agents coming soon to give us information. Les has been doing more work with the Anglicans (probably still has 3 or so days to go) and also has a day or 2 lined up with Baptists.
We have started planning (almost finished the plans) for our next holiday in July this year to Victoria . Joy has started work on a timber and mosaic coffee table. Les celebrated his birthday (Lunch at Joy’s sister’s place and Pizza for tea).. Just the normal things since then until the end of April when we went away to celebrate Les’ birthday. We did not do it on his birthday as it was Easter/School Holidays and we avoid going away at these times.
We went back to
Along the way we spotted several lyrebirds but we also shared the walk with 4 groups of school kids which made for a noisy walk in parts. After the walk we had lunch at the café - Pie, Sausage Roll and Chips for lunch.
We stayed at the same place that we have been to before (www.willabrookretreat.com.au). The last 2 times we stayed in the REST cottage but this time the MOJO cottage which has a better view (the red roof in the middle of the 1st picture and the one on the right in the 2nd picture).
We had the owner turn up twice for various reasons. And who is the owner (or actually part owner) Tim Farriss from INXS (young readers should ask their parents who INXS are!). The autumn colours in the trees were spectacular and in a few weeks will be even better.
We had massages and did a lot of reading and relaxing and watching the birds and the local cows (with lots of little calves in tow) as well as a walk up the steep road next to the cottages.
