Dec 2011 - Jan 2012

December - January
Well now that Christmas is over we thought we’d better update the Blog and let you know what we have been up to.
In December Joy decided the shower needed a bit of a updating so she got to work and re-grouted the tiles. Handy lady!! Joy has also been doing more trips to The Sand Dunes at Kurnell and we have been doing regular walks (and Joy jogs) around the local park. We also went to Barefoot Bowls as a Christmas Party with the “Exercise Group” that Joy goes to. Les was in heaven other than the rain.
We have continued with the Meals on Wheels deliveries and the normal Christmas Shopping although we did a bit “online” this year. We had a trip on the Tall Ships in Sydney Harbour with fantastic weather. We were supposed to go a few weeks earlier but they had overbooked so we got this one plus a voucher to do a Castle, Coves and Convicts tour in 2012.

Joy has also had the sewing machine out and made a dress and a few tops. Les also did a day’s work at the Anglicans just before Christmas and Joy went to the Picasso Exhibition in Sydney. Les has continued to work on the house replacing the old flyscreen with new aluminium screens and has continued painting the window frames and eaves (when the weather has allowed).
Christmas Day was a reasonably quiet day with lunch at Joy’s sister’s at Caringbah. Joy came down with a bug after Christmas which put her out of action for a few days.
On New Years Day we went to Parkes to take Joy’s mum home after her regular Christmas visit to the big smoke. We stayed 1 night in Parkes and then spent 2 nights in Mudgee looking at the town and doing property inspections as Mudgee is on the list of towns to retire to.
In early Jan Les did another day and ½ working with the Anglicans and Joy started her visits to the Dentist to start a root canal procedure. At least now she should not be in pain all the time.
We did another walk in Lane Cove National Park walking along the river, crossing at
Epping Rd
(with some interesting painting under the road bridge)

and then walking back on the other side. There were lots of Grass trees (Joy’s favourite) and Orchids.

We had a quick trip to Maitland to visit friends including a day trip to Paterson.
Les bought a slide / negative scanner so has been scanning some of his photos. The advantage of this scanner is it does not need to be plugged into the computer so he can spread things out on the dining table.
At the end of January we headed up to Wingham for 2 nights and Wauchope for 1 night to again look at the towns and properties as these are also on our retirement town list. Came home via Old Bar. Steady rain and many of the rivers are well up and lots of water lying in paddocks.
